Vermilion Lakes Walk

Join us to learn more about important wetland habitats, wildlife corridors, forest fires, and wildlife that are found here in Banff National Park.

These shallow lakes form an oasis for birds and other animals. The 4.5 km lakeside road makes for a pleasant stroll, bike ride or drive. Guided nature walks available during the summer season. Please check with us about current schedule.

The Walk:

An easy & scenic stroll travels along the Fenland trail and down Vermilion Lakes Road on the lake’s shoreline. One of the most popular picture taking opportunities in all of Banff is located here, not only for the abundance of wildlife, but for the shots of Mt. Rundle and Sulphur Mountain that are seen on many Banff postcards.
